Cookie Policy

Effective August 29, 2026

Necessary technology keeps the service and your privacy choice working. Google Analytics is optional and stays off unless you allow it.

1. What cookies and browser storage are

Cookies are small values a website or outside service asks your browser to store. PeopleDat may also use browser storage, such as local storage, for a similar purpose. These technologies can keep a session working, remember a choice, or support optional measurement.

This policy separates technology needed for the service from optional analytics.

2. Necessary technology

Necessary cookies or browser storage support functions such as sign-in sessions, authentication and request security, fraud and bot prevention, and remembering whether you allowed or rejected optional analytics. The site cannot offer every account or security function without this category.

ExamplePurposeTypical duration
Session and authentication stateKeeps you signed in and protects account or sign-in requests.Until the session expires, you sign out, or the browser value is cleared.
Cookie preferencePersists Allow or Reject so the site can honor the choice on later visits.Until you change the choice or clear the site's browser storage.
peopledat.cookie-preferences.v1Local-storage record containing the analytics choice, consent version, and choice time.Until you change the choice or clear the site's browser storage.
Invitation continuationTemporarily keeps an invitation bearer token in session storage while sign-in completes.Until invitation acceptance, tab-session end, or browser clearing.
Checkout and conversion deduplicationKeeps bounded opaque references locally so a completed purchase is not measured twice.Until browser storage is cleared; no email address or payment-card value is stored there.
Cloudflare Turnstile stateHelps protected forms distinguish legitimate use from automated abuse.Controlled by Cloudflare and the challenge or security context.

Rejecting optional analytics does not disable this necessary category. Blocking all cookies in browser settings can prevent sign-in or other protected features from working.

3. Optional Google Analytics

PeopleDat uses Google Analytics for pageview and funnel measurement only after you choose Allow. Until then, the Google Analytics script is not loaded by the consent-controlled implementation. Rejecting analytics does not prevent you from using the core email-verification workflow.

When allowed, PeopleDat sends the page title and route without the URL query string or fragment. Google Analytics may also process session, browser, device, and approximate-location information. This information is used to understand how the website is used and where a workflow fails or succeeds.

Current funnel events can include the call-to-action selected, sign-in method, list input source, aggregate list and result counts, verification verdict or failure category, rerun status, credits used, and the selected plan or credit pack. They are designed not to include submitted email addresses, uploaded file or list names, list contents, URL query strings, or fragments.

Analytics is disabled on invitation and aggregate-report resolution pages because those flows use bearer tokens. PeopleDat configures Analytics without automatic pageviews, sends route-only page locations, and asks Google to anonymize IP information. These measures reduce data collection but do not make Analytics data anonymous in every legal sense.

CookiePurpose documented by GoogleGoogle's default expiration
_gaDistinguishes users.2 years
_ga_<container-id>Persists session state.2 years

Two years is Google's documented default, not a guaranteed lifetime. Expiration can be refreshed by later activity, changed by site configuration, shortened by browser rules, or ended when you delete the cookie. Google explains the current defaults in its GA4 cookie documentation.

4. Allow, Reject, and Cookie Settings

The consent controls provide three practical choices:

  • Allow permits optional Google Analytics to load.
  • Reject keeps optional analytics off while necessary functions remain available.
  • Cookie Settings reopens the choice so you can change it later.

The site stores the choice persistently in your browser so it can be honored on later visits. Clearing site data removes that saved choice and can cause the site to ask again. A choice applies to the browser and profile where it was made, so you may need to repeat it on another browser or device.

Changing from Allow to Reject stops future consent-controlled Analytics loading and PeopleDat attempts to remove recognized Google Analytics cookies from the site. This cannot delete information Google received before you changed the choice. Browser controls can be used to inspect or remove any remaining cookies.

5. Browser controls and outside services

Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies and site storage. Those controls operate separately from PeopleDat's settings and may affect sign-in or security features if they block necessary values.

Google and Cloudflare handle information under their own policies. See the Privacy Policy for more about Analytics, Turnstile, service providers, retention, and privacy requests.

6. Changes and contact

PeopleDat may update this policy when its browser-storage or analytics practices change. The current effective date will be shown on this page.

Questions about cookies or analytics choices can be sent to [email protected].
